Present owner John Mackie, started as a Saturday boy at 15 years old, when he left school started to work full-time for Tim and Nick before quickly progressing to manage the shop after impressing with his work ethic and enthusiasm for the fruit and vegetable trade. At 23 John left to become a professional footballer where he spent 10 years playing for Reading FC and Leyton Orient.  

In 2013 John returned to take back over the shop, introducing more products such as oils, nuts, seeds and other groceries to try to make it a full shopping experience for Highbury customers.

More recently White Brothers greengrocers have expanded the florist side of the business offering a wide range of cut flowers, plants and hand made bouquets managed by John's wife Jane.
